Since the 1990's,  the advent of digital hearing aids has changed the way Starkey develops and showcases its products. With advanced signal processing technology, nanotechnology applications and data logging capabilities, the ability for hearing professionals to program hearing aids through software  has never been more available.  Starkey’s Software Engineering group makes this a reality!
   
Do you want to work for a leading edge company that is involved in developing software for exciting, high-tech products? Do you have the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively in a fast-paced environment where your decisions really count?  If so, consider a new opportunity as the Senior Software Designer responsible for Starkey’s flagship software product, the Inspire Fitting System.  The responsibilities for this position include the following:
 
  • Designing user interaction models, workflows and user interfaces
  • Integrating internal and external product design into a cohesive user experience
  • Creating prototypes and authoring detailed interaction specifications
  • Working with user experience researchers to design and observe usability studies
  • Translating usability and field research findings into design improvements
  • Working with visual designers to improve and refine product visual design and consistency
  • Successfully communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale
  • Translating technical expertise in the delivery of products and/or systems
  • Developing projects by working seamlessly with software engineers in the technical realm
  • Interacting with customers, vendors, and other functional groups while coordinating design issues
  • Participating in the creation of detailed project plans and schedules
 
 
 

Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Factors, computer science or related field required
 
Required Experience and Knowledge:
  • At least 5+ years experience leading large design efforts and coordinating project teams of 4 or more members
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Mastery of user interaction design skills
  • Familiarity with field and lab-based usability research methodologies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
  • Familiarity with the Windows and/or Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines a plus
  • Some UML/modeling 
Desired Knowledge:
  • experience managing/editing assets with Microsoft Expression product line
  • Fluency with the Adobe stack of technologies
  • experience with 3d modeling using a mainstream package such as 3ds Max or Maya
